Dr. Adam Palombo
Dr. Palombo is owner of Active Life and a second generation Chiropractor who comes from a family that firmly believes in the power that education holds in taking care of one's health. His progression from juvenile diabetes to living life now as an individual who does not have to use insulin, is a testament to the success of alternative treatments in the management of diseases and the healing power of the human body. He is thrilled to be a part of Active Life and the greater Newburyport community.
It is my philosophy that, true wellness stems from the integration of proper lifestyle, both in the form of eating right and staying active, striving to improve and maintain emotional health, and maintaining proper muscuoloskeletal functioning. Acknowledging the powerful role that genetics plays in our lives, a lapse in any one of these three areas can will inevitably impact the others and predispose you to sub-optimal health.
Most often, as a chiropractor, I see people who come into the office with musculoskeletal pain. In an ideal world, I'd see pain free people in the office looking for "a check up" at the slightest lapse in any of the three areas mentioned above. Life, being as wonderful and as busy as it is, doesn't always allow for this situation, and so much of the care I deliver revolves around getting people out of pain and back to their normal functioning selves.
I strongly believe that, as a doctor, I should play the role that my title implies: from the latin verb docere meaning, to teach. Patient education plays an integral role in the maintenance of health and wellness and I believe that this hasn't received enough attention over the years. That's why I strive to not only get you out of pain, but then identify the factors responsible for generating your pain, and give you the educational tools to promote your optimal movement, function, and health.
Dr Palombo is trained in joint adjusting (both for the spine and extremities), manual soft tissue therapies (such as trigger point, Active Release Technique), and therapeutic/stabilization exercises, all of which he utilizes at various points throughout his care plans in order to best serve you as a patient. He is also certified in an instrument-assisted soft tissue technique called Graston Technique (www.grastontechnique.com).
Dr. Palombo earned his undergraduate education at Skidmore College, where he studied exercise physiology and clinical nutrition. He earned his graduate degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College. He currently teaches continuing education hours for other doctors on a national level and, he is a post-graduate faculty member at New York College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Palombo currently lives with his best friend and wife Pam, a practicing Registered Nurse studying to become a Nurse Practicioner, and their adorable dog Jack.
